Although this book focuses mostly on using the Whale Done approach in the raising of children up to five years old, we emphatically state that, with modifications depending on age and experience, these methods, based on behavioral science, can be used successfully with virtually anyone. That is because all people are in a constant search for happiness and “what’s in it for me?” Being praised and recognized for what they do right feeds directly into that motive. Help your child associate the agreements you make regarding her behavior with fun, relaxation, and enjoyment. Introduce an air of lightness or adventure by making a game of the change. Thinking things out carefully and planning ahead usually pave the way to a successful conclusion.
